Learning Arabic has become easier, cheaper and more fun. You have several learning options ranging from books to online instruction.

On this page, we provide some pointers to online resources. You may also find interesting resources in the other links that may appear on this page.

Once you understand the basics, you can start to pick and choose from various resources and providers. This site covers the basics with eleven online lessons (currently free, see also Arabic alphabet and common Arabic phrases). Although the content is a bit old, it is still relevant. We also used to sell The Arabic Tutor (the first multimedia based computer program to teach Arabic) and provided Easy Arabic as a bonus program. These programs run on old hardware, so we discontinued them (you can still register Easy Arabic for free if you want to).

Another useful resource is the Arabic content now available on the Internet and through direct TV channels. Newspapers, TV news programs and children channels are good examples and there are so many of these available. Some news services are available in several languages if you prefer to hear and compare (EuroNews is one example). For vocabulary and translation, you can get good guesses from Google translation.
